This Cold Stress Awareness and Cold Injury Prevention training course provides employees with the knowledge needed to recognize the hazards of working in cold environments and implement safe work practices to prevent cold-related illnesses and injuries. The course covers the effects of cold temperatures, wind, moisture, and prolonged exposure on the body, as well as strategies for reducing the risk of cold stress in the workplace.
Participants will learn to identify the signs, symptoms, and risk factors associated with common cold-related conditions, including hypothermia, frostbite, frostnip, chilblains, and trench foot. The training also covers proper clothing and layering techniques, hydration and nutrition, work/rest schedules, environmental monitoring, emergency response procedures, and the importance of recognizing when medical attention is needed. Emphasis is placed on hazard awareness, employee responsibilities, and following employer-specific cold weather safety procedures.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to recognize cold stress hazards, identify the early warning signs of cold-related illnesses and injuries, apply preventive measures to minimize exposure, and follow safe work practices that support OSHA recommendations and contribute to a safer work environment during cold weather operations.
