Ladder Safety for General Industry

This Ladder Safety for General Industry training course provides employees with the knowledge needed to recognize hazards associated with the selection, inspection, setup, and use of ladders in the workplace. The course covers OSHA requirements and fundamental ladder safety practices designed to help prevent falls, struck-by incidents, and other injuries associated with improper ladder use.

Participants will learn how to select the appropriate ladder for the task, understand ladder types and duty ratings, perform pre-use inspections, and properly position and secure ladders before use. The training addresses safe climbing techniques, maintaining three points of contact, electrical hazards, load limitations, damaged or defective ladders, and common unsafe practices such as overreaching or using ladders on unstable surfaces. Emphasis is also placed on proper ladder storage and maintenance and recognizing when a ladder should be removed from service.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to recognize common ladder hazards, select and inspect ladders appropriately, demonstrate an understanding of safe setup and climbing practices, and identify conditions that could make ladder use unsafe. The course promotes safe work practices that help reduce the risk of falls and other ladder-related injuries while supporting OSHA compliance and a safer workplace.
